The SJCC Young Professionals welcome their members in 2025 to the 24th Annual General Meeting.
We are pleased to welcome Kazu Huggler – fashion designer, artist, and cultural mediator based in Zurich – as this year’s guest speaker.
Born in Tokyo to a Japanese mother and a Swiss father, Kazu Huggler grew up deeply connected to both cultures. After attending traditional Japanese schools, she moved to Zurich and later studied Japanese art history at Keio University. She went on to study fashion design at Zurich University of the Arts and Central Saint Martins in London.
In 2002, she founded her label KAZU, combining Japanese aesthetics with Swiss craftsmanship. Her work has been presented in museums and cultural institutions in both Switzerland and Japan, including events celebrating Swiss-Japanese diplomatic relations, attended by dignitaries such as Empress Emerita Michiko. Some of her designs have also been acquired by major Swiss museums.
Beyond her work in fashion, Kazu is engaged in social initiatives supporting vulnerable communities in Japan. In 2011, she founded the non-profit organization Thee Cranes Association, which runs projects such as Fukura-an, supporting socially withdrawn youth (Hikikomori), and Tohoku Women’s Crafting, which provides elderly women with opportunities for creative work and social participation.
Kazu will share insights and experiences from her personal and professional life in both Japan and Switzerland.
The event will be followed by a networking apéro.
This year the event will be held in hybrid format with the option to attend online, or in present either in Zurich or in Lausanne. Please indicate in the registration form where you will participate
